Description

This session will explain what street medicine is and will examine the health disparities and struggles of the unsheltered population. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain a better understanding of what street medicine is and how it functions 
  • Discuss the health disparities of the unsheltered population in an urban setting
  • Consider options to change the disparities in healthcare when caring for the unsheltered population

Statement of Accreditation
The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. TOMA designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Hans Bruntmyer, DO Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Bruntmyer graduated from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994. After completing residencies in emergency and aerospace medicine, Dr. Bruntmyer retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2015. His professional interests include Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM), street medicine, and health care for marginalized populations. When not teaching at UIWSOM, Dr. Bruntmeyer's current medical practice consists of providing OMM and general health care at a free clinic for the marginalized in his community.
