What is a Stroke?

Learning Objectives:
·    Diagnose stroke early.
·    Engage a multidisciplinary stroke team. 
·    Optimize the delivery of time-critical care.
·    Improve their facility's performance in stroke-related quality metrics. 

Accreditation Statements:
The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. MAOPS designates this program for a maximum of 1.75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.

All grievances should be in writing and should specify the nature of the grievance.  Initially, all grievances should be directed to MAOPS Executive Director, who will then forward said grievance to the Education & Convention Committee.  All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt.  If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response, then they can then submit a complaint in writing to the Council on Continuing Medical Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.

Alisha Wright, DO, is Assistant Medical Director and Core Faculty Member of Freeman Health System.  She graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and went on to complete her Emergency Medicine Residency program at Freeman Health System & Oklahoma State University.  She currently serves on the Graduate Medical Education Committee for KCU, and the Program Evaluation Committee and Trauma Committee for Freeman Health System as well as many others for the organization. Dr. Wright is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine.

Matthew Grounds, DO's Profile

Matthew Grounds, DO is a graduate of the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and is board certified in emergency medicine through the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians. After graduation, Dr. Grounds moved to Joplin, Missouri where he currently serves as the Freeman West Emergency Department Medical Director and the Assistant Director of the Emergency Medicine Program with Freeman Health System.
