Learning Objectives:

The State of Residency Training and the Practice of Medicine

  • Understand the state of transition from AOA and ACGME residency Accreditation to single accreditation by the ACGME
  • Be aware of at least 3 impacts on practicing family physicians from the current residency accreditation process
  • Know how you as an individual family physician can impact residency training 

 

Legislative Update

  • Be familiar with the legislative priorities for the ACOFP 
  • Be familiar with the legislative priorities for the Iowa Chapter of the ACOFP
  • Understand how belonging to your state society helps protect your right to practice osteopathy

The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 2 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. de Regnier is a graduate of Des Moines University -College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery.  He completed his rotating internship and family medicine residency at Des Moines General Hospital.  He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and is a distinguished fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

Dr. de Regnier owns and practices at Madison County Medical Associates in Winterset and is an Adjunct Professor of Family Medicine at Des Moines University.  

Dr. de Regnier is Past President of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.  He is also the Past President of the Iowa Chapter ACOFP and IOMA.  He serves on numerous national, state and local committees.
