Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity participants will:

1-Recognize why the can be an effective Clinical Faculty mentor for osteopathic medical students (OMS)

2-Verbalize the curricular framework for a busy office/clinical practice

3-Describe how to prepare office/staff for teaching

4-Implement effective, efficient teaching and organizational techniques

5-Define how to evaluate and give feedback to learners

6-Recall KHSC Institutional needs for Clinical Faculty

The program was planned, implemented and accredited by the Kansas Association of Osteopathic Medicine (KAOM).

The Kansas Association of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity. 

Grievance Policy:

KAOM will respond to all grievances in a timely manner and you may call Vicki Whitaker, Executive Director at 785-234-5563 to discuss them. KAOM wants to be made aware of the grievance in order to resolve it to your satisfaction. All grievances will receive an initial response in writing within 30 days of receipt. If the participant does not receive a satisfactory response from KAOM they can submit a complaint in writing to the Bureau of Osteopathic Education of the AOA at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.

J. Michael Finley DO, FACOI, FACP, FACR 
J. Michael Finley DO is the inaugural Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Kansas Health Science Center/Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (proposed), Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Finley received his undergraduate degree in microbiology and public health from Michigan State University and DO degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, now Midwestern University. He completed internal medicine residency at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital in Highland Park, Michigan and a rheumatology fellowship at the Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. Dr. Finley retired in 2018 as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Associate Dean, Graduate Medical Education at Western University, Pomona, California after 25 years of service. Dr. Finley is certified by the American Board of Osteopathic Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He clinically specializes in adult rheumatology. In 2015, he was recognized as W. Douglas Ward PhD Educator of the Year by the American Osteopathic Foundation. Dr. Finley divides his time between Wichita and Orange County, California where he lives with his wife Shelley, sons RJ and Casey and Black Labrador, Carley.
