This lecture was presented by Anne Packard, PharmD as part of the 2025 IOA Virtual Spring Update. 

Learning Objectives: 

1. Summarize the recommendations for treating type 2 diabetes.
2. Explain the current therapeutic agents available for managing type 2 diabetes.
3. Discuss benefits specifically for cardiovascular and renal protection with SGLT-2i and GLP-
1RA. Summarize the continuous glucose monitors available

Anne Packard, PharmD Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Anne Packard originally from Holland, Michigan received her Doctorate of
Pharmacy from Purdue University. Dr. Packard completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy
Practice residency with Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan and
completed a PGY-2 Ambulatory Care residency with Kaiser Permanente in
Denver, Colorado. She is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist in
Primary Care and also holds a faculty position with Community Health
Network’s Osteopathic Family Medicine residency program. She has a
collaborative drug practice agreement at the residency clinic, which allows her
to assist the medical residents and faculty in managing their patients with
chronic disease states. She also provides education and support to the office
and medical residents as well as to pharmacy residents and students. She has
a special interest in osteoporosis and diabetes.
