Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1)  Understand the 11 major categories of chronic wounds.
2)  Understand the three characteristics needed to identify appropriate wound dressings.
3)  Understand the concept of a terminal ulcer versus “preventable” and “non-preventable pressure based tissue injuries”.
4)  Understand the concepts of timing of dressing change with respect to costs and outcomes.

Dr. Miller is the CEO and Medical Director of Miller Care Group, a non-hospital affiliated multispecialty group that provides advanced wound care, lymphedema, pain management, mental and behavioral care including psychiatry, podiatry, and substance abuse services.  Dr. Miller is a veteran of Desert Storm.  He received the American Osteopathic Foundation’s Physician of the Year award in 2010.  He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, has been principle investigator on numerous research protocols, has published numerous book chapters and has traveled all over the world presenting the most current information on best practices for wound care and amputation prevention.  Dr. Miller is a clinical assistant professor at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MUCOM) in Indianapolis. IN.
