In this presentation, Dr. Schwarze will give an overview of atrial fibrillation. He will discuss the data that supports the use of NOACs in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. He will discuss the 2019 recommendations for patients with atrial fibrillation and also identify patients at risk of stroke and systemic embolism which is secondary to atrial fibrillation. He will conclude with three case studies of patients he commonly treats.

This lecture will focus on the term “cancer survivor” and the various challenges that this population group faces in the years following their cancer treatment. Dr. Hubbard will discuss the need for a long-term follow-up plan for cancer survivors. He will discuss potential barriers to implementing a cancer survivorship program and end the lecture by discussing the importance of exercise programs in lowering the risk of cancer reoccurrence.
