Addison McGuire, OMS IV


Addison McGuire, OMS IV, is a medical student at Kansas City University (KCU), Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in a rural setting in Higbee, Missouri. After coming out as transgender, he experienced first-hand the lack of LGBTQ+ informed care in rural communities. While pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri, he worked as a Diversity Educator and volunteered as a panelist sharing his perspective as a transgender person in Missouri. In medical school, he has worked to encourage diversity inclusion in curricula and educate the medical community on LGBTQ+ awareness. He has been honored to share his knowledge at multiple medical schools and community conferences and hopes to continue to drive LGBTQ+ informed care in all specialties.
