Andrew Nelson


Dr. Nelson earned a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University in Auburn, AL; and a medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) in Pomona, CA.  He completed his Traditional Internship at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, OR, and is currently a 3rd year Orthopedic resident at GSRMC in Corvallis.

 

Dr. Nelson’s main interests so far in residency are Sports Medicine, shoulder/upper extremity and knee pathology/treatment.  He is active in the Osteopathic profession at the national and state level, having served as a medical student and Resident physician on multiple AOA , OPSC, CMA, OMA and OPSO boards/committees.  He is currently serving as the resident on the OPSO Board of Directors.

 

Outside of the clinic and operating room, Dr. Nelson is also passionate about International medicine and the politics of medicine, including federal and state policies that affect the Osteopathic profession, medicine at large and our patients.  He is active in working with student organizations and mentoring medical students on the COMP-NW campus.  He also enjoys triathlons, water polo, mountain biking, skiing and other outdoor activities.
