Ashok Palagiri, MD


Dr. Ashok Palagiri is Vice President of Mercy Virtual Inpatient Services (vICU, vSepsis, and vHospitalist). He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also board certified in Neurocritical Care by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. He has served in many capacities at Mercy, including Critical Care Fellowship education, peer review/quality improvement, sepsis care, and workflow/pathway optimization. He is currently a Co-Leader for the Mercy ministry-wide Sepsis Task Force and is a Critical Care Specialty Council member. 

Dr. Palagiri has been working with Mercy Virtual since the initial inception of Mercy SafeWatch in 2006. He became Assistant Medical Director of vICU in 2011, transitioning to Medical Director of vICU and vSepsis in 2015, and Medical Director of vHospitalist in 2019. 

Dr. Palagiri received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2004. He completed a Critical Care fellowship at Mercy Hospital St. Louis, Missouri, in 2006 and has been working as an intensivist there and at Mercy Hospital - Washington since 2006. 

Dr. Palagiri and his team are constantly working with bedside providers to improve patient care while decreasing the burden of the bedside clinicians' work.
