Carly Pierson, OMS-II

Carly Pierson is an OMS-II at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. She is originally from Los Angeles, where she attended UCLA and received her bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, with a minor in Spanish. During her gap year between undergrad and medical school, Ms. Pierson worked as a laboratory coordinator at PacGenomics, which is a lab that specializes in IVF and Preimplantation Genetic Testing, or PGT. She also worked for a year with the Trevor Project, the #1 nonprofit in the country for preventing suicide among LGBTQI+ youth.

Student Doctor Pierson is currently the President of UIW-SOM’s Pediatric Academy, the Treasurer for Pride in Practice, the social chair for UIW-SOM’s Running and Wellness club, and a Learner Ambassador for the school.

When she’s not studying or at school, she enjoys traveling, hanging with friends and family, and trying new restaurants, or cooking new foods. Eventually, she hopes to be a pediatrician in an underserved urban community in the Los Angeles area.
