Charles Mitchell, MD


Charles H. Mitchell, MD, is a Board-Certified psychiatrist, practicing in Yarmouth, Maine. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Quillen College of Medicine, and completed his residency in Psychiatry at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He is a member of the clinical faculty of Tufts University Medical School, and meets weekly with residents of Maine Medical Center’s Psychiatry residency program. Dr. Mitchell has been trained in the evaluation of asylum seekers by Physicians for Human Rights and HealthRight international, and over the last 12 years has provided evaluations and testimony for over 120 asylum seekers from more than a dozen countries. In addition to his local work, he has participated in a special PHR program providing remote evaluations of individuals waiting in encampments south of the US traumatized indigenous people in Arequipa, Peru. He has evaluated non-US citizens facing deportation who are in detention at the Stafford Correctional Center in Stafford, New Hampshire.

Dr. Mitchell has performed psychological evaluations of adults and adolescents in English, Spanish, and French.
