David Beckett is a second-year medical student at Western University. Before starting medical school, he was a clinical research coordinator for 4 years where he helped coordinate trials in radiation oncology, biobanking, and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. These experiences allowed him to witness how integrated research is in medicine and the value it carries. He took this knowledge with him last fall and started conducting and/or helping with various studies. His medical schoolwork thus far includes, IHC for neurodegerative diseases, studies on yeast with knockout genes, and many other small projects. With an interest in sports medicine, he hopes to continue developing these skills so he can be a PI on different clinical trials aimed at improving outcomes in weekend warriors and everyday athletes.
