David Garza, DO


Dr. Garza is Assistant Professor, Family Medicine Clerkship Director, and Director of Osteopathic Recognition at UIWSOM. Before transitioning to the medical campus in 2020, Dr. Garza was Founding Program Director for UIWSOM’s Family Medicine Residency in his hometown of Laredo, Texas, where he was in solo practice for twenty-five years prior to that. He earned a B.A. from UT Austin, his D.O. from UNTHSCTCOM, and a Master of Medical Education Leadership from UNECOM. Dr. Garza served for seven years on the Texas Medical Board Board, is Certified by the AOBFP, and is a Fellow of the ACOFP. A past president of TOMA, Texas ACOFP, TMF Health Quality Institute, and the TCOM Alumni Association, Dr. Garza currently serves as 2nd Vice President for the AOA Board of Trustees.
