James Keene, DO, PhD
Dr. James R. Keene earned a B.A. in Zoology, an MS.Ed. in Guidance and Educational Psychology, and a PhD in Physiology at Southern Illinois University. He subsequently served as an Assistant Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Northern Arizona University, then as Director of Computer Services at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. After several years in Saudi Arabia, he went back to medical school and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine & Surgery from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences, now Des Moines University. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. Directly following residency, he spent one year as a missionary physician at a Youth Health Clinic run by the Baptist Mission of Kenya in Nairobi, Kenya, where he has a Kenyan medical license. Upon his return to the United States, Dr. Keene started practicing in Sunnyside, Washington, and became the Administrative Director of Medical Education for the Washington Osteopathic Family Medicine Program at Sunnyside Community Hospital; a role he filled for eight years. Dr. Keene practiced full-time Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) for eight and a half years in Kennewick, Washington.
