Dr. Jerald E. Hurdle
Lives in Oakland Maine currently on Medicine Bend Ranch with his wife and two teenage children Jairus and Nathan. On the ranch he rides quarter horses and actively participates in Cowboy Mounted Shooting. He enjoys all shooting sports including his new passion of sporting clays. He is a native to Greensboro, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of Winston Salem State where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. Dr. Hurdle graduated from Ohio University College of Medicine where he also obtained an Interdisciplinary Master’s degree in Business and Education in 2005.
Dr. Hurdle completed his teaching fellowship and internship at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens Ohio in 2004. He completed his Family Medicine residency training at Grandview hospital in Dayton, Ohio in 2007. He received his subspecialty training and mentorship from Dr. Eugene Conte of Advanced Dermatology Dayton Ohio from 2005-2009.
Dr. Hurdle completed a second residency at Grandview Hospitals in Dayton, Ohio in 2009 in Proctology and Colorectal Surgery.
Dr. Hurdle serves as CEO of Kennebec Dermatology & Kennebec Proctology (formally Kennebec Medical Consultants). He was Past President of the College of Proctology (two terms). He is a past-board member of the Maine Osteopathic Association. He currently is a mentor to medical students, trains Family Medicine Residents in specialty medicine (Dermatology & Proctology). He volunteers his time in his local community schools and church health fair events. He is routinely asked to lecture around the United States on Dermatology and Proctology topics.
Dr. Hurdle is currently completing a MC/MPA degree at Harvard Kennedy School. His aspiration to join Maine Politics pushes him ultimately towards a Harvard Law degree. He feels by actively involving his time to help others medically and now socially is the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
