Katina Brown-Burgess, DO, FACOOG


Katina Brown-Burgess, DO, FACOOG, is a native Floridian, born in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2006. Upon graduating from Emory University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Dr. Brown-Burgess returned to Florida to receive her medical degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Ob/Gyn residency in Detroit, Michigan. It was during her residency, that she realized that service and patient education would be the foundation of how she would practice. Aside from clinical practice, Dr. Brown-Burgess serves as one of the members on the Case Review Team, reviewing fetal/infant mortality cases in Broward County, providing recommendations to improve infant outcomes. She is the former Vice Chair of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Broward Health Medical Center. Her department has implemented many of the state of Florida’s Initiatives including a protocol for OB Hemorrhage, as well as setting department standards and policies in managing hypertensive disorders in obstetrical patients through the HIP Initiative. After completing her term as Vice Chair, she now serves as the Chair of the Ob/Gyn Peer Review Committee at Broward Health and serves as a member on the OB Strategic Planning committee.
