Kent Nebel
Kent M. Nebel, J.D. was named the Executive Director of the Iowa Board of Medicine on February 22, 2019. He has served as the Board’s Legal Director for 20 years and as its Interim Executive Director since July 2018. He received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Iowa and a law degree from Drake University. Mr. Nebel has developed a comprehensive understanding of the Board’s operations and the laws and rules governing the practice of medicine in Iowa. He has also developed longstanding relationships with important stakeholders including physicians and other health care providers, other state licensing boards, state and federal regulators, local and national professional organizations, legislators, attorneys, IMS and IOMA and the Federation of State Medical Boards. His goal as Executive Director is to maintain the Iowa Board of Medicine as a national leader in the effective licensure and regulation of physicians.
