Martin G. Johns, MD, “The Struggling Medical Learner – Evaluating and Assessing,” is program director of the UPMC Horizon Family Medicine Residency Program in Farrell, Pennsylvania. He is chief of medicine at UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and medical director of the University of Pittsburgh Physician Assistant Program. Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Johns is a graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and a 2005 graduate of Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He competed a family medicine residency at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, South Carolina, and a fellowship with the National Institute for Program Director Development. Dr. Johns is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Teachers in Family Medicine and the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors.
