Mercie DiGangi, DO

Mercie DiGangi, DO is a Pediatrician at SCPMG Kaiser Downey and the Southern California Regional Chair of the SCPMG Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP). Through that leadership role, she works with regional and local champions implementing the coordinated “systems model” approach to child abuse prevention which includes screening and referral, supportive environment, on-site services, and community linkages. She also works on identifying and coordinating strategic activities to improve identification, documentation and appropriate referral of abuse patients, as well as working with the medical center Chiefs. Dr. DiGangi created an ACEs screening pilot in SCPMG involving 6 medical centers.  The pilot concluded last year and an article was printed in the Journal of Pediatrics summarizing the results and learnings from this pilot in June 2020. Currently she is working on KP regional spread for early 2021 (screen in all pediatric clinics at all ages 2-18).  Through the screening pilot, Dr. DiGangi has also been mentoring and presenting to other sites outside of KP as they begin their ACEs screenings. Dr. DiGangi continues to see regular pediatrics patients full time.  She also parents her 3 children with her husband, Mike, and they have opened their home to fostering for the past 3 years.
