Natalie Tolbert PhD
Natalie Tolbert is a Medical Anthropologist who has undertaken three ethnographic research projects: one in Sudan (ethno-archaeology) and two in India: (i. architectural ethnography, and ii. bio-medical and religious strategies for addresing mental health). She’s had anomalous experiences, and conducted reasearch into experiences.
She’s designed and taught courses on Cultural Diversity and Mental Wellbeing at medical schools and in hospitals since 2007, and on Spirituality and Health at universities since 1996. Her seminars open a dialogue between patients, new migrants, and medical and healthcare practitioners. She’s developed a Training Manual on Cultural Equalities for Frontline Service Providers, and uses exercises from it when she teaches face to face or on line, for a module entitled, ‘Clash of Beliefs’ Course. She has facilitated workshop seminars in UK, Ireland, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and USA.
