This session will feature valuable insights and practical pearls to empower primary care practitioners in managing surgical cases effectively within their scope of practice.
Objectives for General Surgery Pearls for the Primary Care Physician:
1) Articulate key principles in general surgery to help make informed decisions in the workup and management of surgical cases within the primary care setting.
2) Gain practical insights into perioperative management and care.

The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Clint Rathje grew up on a farm just outside of Aurora, Nebraska and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He went on to earn his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences where he graduated with honors. He also obtained his Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare Leadership from Rockhurst University in Kansas City while attending medical school. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Kansas in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Rathje is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Rathje enjoys all aspects of general surgery including advanced laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery. In addition to his Lincoln clinic, he serves the communities of Central City, Tecumseh, and Wahoo. He is a member of the Nebraska Medical Association, Lancaster County Medical Society, and American Medical Association.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Mandi and their four daughters. He enjoys being outdoors, DIY projects, and watching college football, GO HUSKERS!
