Learning Objectives:

  1. List common somatic dysfunctions found in telecommuting workers. 
  2. Identify the role of self-directed OMT in patient care. 
  3. Demonstrate appropriate Osteopathic Techniques for home care. 
  4. Create an appropriate OMT prescription for telecommuting patients.

Dr. Powers is the OMM Department Chair at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Carolinas and she practices medicine at Palmetto Proactive Healthcare. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and has completed coursework through the Cranial Academy and Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation. She also has a special interest in preventative medicine and non-operative orthopedic care. Dr. Powers received her medical degree from Georgia Campus – Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a Family Medicine Residency at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where she received the Rubel (Ob-Gyn) and the Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment Awards. She completed Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Fellowship at Florida Hospital East Orlando in Orlando, FL. She is a member of the South Carolina Osteopathic Medical Society.
