Approximately 40% of Americans are people with skin of color. It is projected that people of color will account for over half (52%) of the population in 2050, with the largest growth occurring among Hispanics. However, medical education on skin of color is limited, as photographs in the major dermatology resources are limited and variable. Patients with dark skin can present with morphologic variants, subtle disease presentations, and disease manifestations requiring unique management. OMM for the Teleconferencing worker is important in a typical year and even moreso in the time of COVID-19. As more and more of our patients are limiting their typical daily activities and spending more and more time staring at screens, they are also facing challenges of back pain and somatic dysfunctions. Many locations are limiting patient exposures so OMT appointments may be hard to come by if the patient is even willing to risk a visit to the office. It is essential that we learn how to best enable our patients to maintain their best health while continuing to follow quarantine recommendations.
