Description

Objectives:

  • Learners will employ physical exam techniques and analyze imaging studies to help determine the definitive diagnosis and appropriate treatment options for upper extremity injuries.
  • Learners will develop familiarity with outpatient treatment options for common upper extremity injuries, thereby utilizing them effectively.
  • Learners will determine optimal imaging modalities and interpret x-rays and MRIs, thereby improving patient outcomes by assisting in early diagnosis and rehabilitation or necessary referral to specialty care.
  • Learners will optimize patient care by better understanding non-operative management of common upper extremity conditions versus the need for possible specialist referral and surgery.

 

The Maine Osteopathic Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.The Maine Osteopathic Association designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Gregory Stevens is a 2012 graduate of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and a previous pre-doctoral teaching fellow. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine, and his NMM +1 at UNECOM. He is currently Assistant Clinical Faculty in the OMM department at UNECOM and in his own NMM practice in Portland.
