Presentation Title: Telemedicine: New Parameters and Pitfalls During a Pandemic

Session Objectives:
1. Attain familiarity with "telehealth terminology".
2. Obtain a better understanding of telehealth's history, current implementations and future integrations

1.Consider risks of opioids and MAT in the new era
2. Discuss newer workflows for prescribing opioids and MAT            
3.Share strategies for patient monitoring and complying with regulations

 

The Maine Osteopathic Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.The Maine Osteopathic Association designates this program for a maximum of 2.5 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

This education counts towards Maine state-specific Opioid Prescribing CME licensing requirements and the new 8 hour DEA CME requirement when renewing or obtaining your DEA license. The total hours in this education is one (1) Opioid Prescribing Credit.

Jack Forbush, DO

Dr. Leigh "Jack" Forbush is a graduate of Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency Program and Fellowship in Neuromuscular Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine having obtained his medical degree at Maine’s prestigious University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Providing the full spectrum of family medical including Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Geriatrics and Obstetrics, his particular areas of interest include Integrative and Holistic Medicine, applying the principles of Osteopathy across the age spectrum and the incorporation of information technology in medicine.

Each year, he travels to Paraguay offering his services to the Andrea Ritz Foundation caring for (and enjoying the company of) Guarani of all ages.

He is actively involved at the local, state and federal level in his capacity as the current President of the Maine Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians as well as the President of the New England Direct Primary Care Alliance.

He holds active board certifications in Family Medicine, Neuromuscular Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Integrative and Holistic Medicine

Laura Blaisdell, MD/MPH, is a board-certified pediatrician and researcher who works in the Greater Portland Area of Maine. Dr. Blaisdell graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota in 1997, earned her medical doctorate and public health degree (MD/MPH) at the University of Minnesota in 2005, and completed a residency in pediatrics at Maine Medical Center in 2008. Dr. Blaisdell currently practices general pediatrics with Intermed in Yarmouth, Maine, and is a newborn hospitalist at Maine Medical Center. She conducts research and frequently lectures on parental vaccine hesitancy and infectious epidemics in the camp setting. During the summer months, Dr. Blaisdell is the Camp Health Director for Camp Winnebago in Fayette, Maine, where she lives with her two sons and husband, Andy, the camp’s owner and director. She has served as doctor-in-residence at Africamps in Johannesburg, South Africa, as well as at the Hôpital Albert Schweitzer, in Deschapelles, Haiti. Dr. Blaisdell has served on several local and national boards and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Mercy Hospital. Dr. Blaisdell is also known as a Vaccine Hesitancy Expert, writing Op-Eds and volunteering in the effort to pass LD798, Maine’s law to remove philosophical and religious exemptions to vaccine requirements for school entry. She is actively involved in Maine Families for Vaccines.

Elisabeth Fowlie Mock attended Colby College, Emory University, Vanderbilt Medical School and UNC Chapel Hill for Public Health. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine and works primarily as a consultant and clinical educator with per diem Hospitalist shifts. She intends to run for the national Board of Directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2024. Interests include Toastmasters, and women’s basketball--she is a certified basketball referee. She has 3 kids in their early 20s and lives in Bangor with her husband and 3 doodles, also known as substitute children.
