Objectives:

2. Participants will be able to name groups who are at risk of high levels of exposure
3. Participants will be able to name health conditions associated with elevated PFAS exposure and how to monitor for them
The Maine Osteopathic Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. The Maine Osteopathic Association designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Rachel Criswell is a full spectrum family physician and environmental health researcher based in Skowhegan, Maine. As part of her family medicine practice, Dr. Criswell cares for individuals affected by high levels of PFAS exposure, particularly from biosolid contamination. In her research, Dr. Criswell focuses on the long-term health impacts of PFAS exposure, including perinatal exposure via human milk among children in the Norwegian Human Milk Study birth cohort and Dartmouth University's New Hampshire Birth Cohort Study. She is the Principal Investigator with MaineGeneral Medical Center and the Maine CDC examining exposures among PFAS-affected individuals in Fairfield, Maine, and she serves on the Maine State PFAS Fund Health Subcommittee to determine blood testing and monitoring guidelines as Maine addresses its PFAS contamination. She received her Medical Degree and Master's of Science in Biomedical Research from Columbia University and completed her Family Medicine Residency at the Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency in Augusta and Waterville.
