Short Description:
Athletes of all ages, and conditioning, may participate in endurance sports. Many individuals lack the time, knowledge, or resources for proper training, and consequently are at risk for overuse injuries. Most injuries in endurance athletes are the result of overuse. Because these athletes are often seen first in a primary care setting with their musculoskeletal injuries and complaints, primary care providers must be able to diagnose and manage many common lower extremity injuries and know when to refer severe injuries to specialists.
