This presentation will briefly review the different types of pain and patient responses to pain, as well as recognize the mechanism of actions of commonly used medications for pain. A focus on assisting the primary care physician choose therapies wisely for their patient will be maintained. Short Description:
Knee osteoarthritis is very prevalent in the US population. Approximately 20% of the population over the age of 45 has OA. Treatment for is knee OA is not perfect and many people not do not qualify for treatment secondary to medical, health or age reasons. PRP may be beneficial in certain patient populations. We have a better understanding of the mechanism involved with PRP and there are multiple conflicting randomized controlled trials. Physicians should be aware of all possible options for patients.
