Charles Radis, DO

Dr. Chuck Radis brings a singular perspective to his writing and is the author of Go by Boat, Island Medicine, Wildflowers of Casco Bay, and John Jenkins: the Mayor of Maine. Following graduation from Bates College, he committed to a career in osteopathic medicine after meeting a D.O. family practice bush pilot in Baja, Mexico.

Throughout his years as both a primary health care physician and later, as a specialist in rheumatology, Dr. Radis has published both in peer-reviewed scientific journals and in the popular press. He has written on empathy and kindness in medicine, the narcotic epidemic, and the logic of expanding Medicare for all Americans. As the founder and medical director for the Maine-African Partnership for Social Justice (www.mapsj.org) he has developed programs in the Kiryandongo United Nations Settlement in Uganda where he partners with refugee groups in innovative public health programs.

For the last 40 years he has taught in the musculoskeletal system at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he is a Clinical Professor of Medicine, and continues to enjoy his connections with our next generation of osteopathic physicians.

Charles Radis, DO has no actual or potential conflict of interest, financial relationship/arrangement or affiliation with any entity producing, marketing, re-selling or distributing health care goods or services consumed by, or used on, patients.
