Ed Junkins, MD, MPH


Dr. Junkins is a long-time health sciences academician. He is presently serving as the Senior Associate Dean for Assessment and Outcomes for the Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon, Oregon. He has a breadth of experience as a pediatrician, educator, clinical researcher,and executive administrator for more than two decades. Dr. Junkins is board certified in Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Junkins has teaching interests in best practices of diversity and equity, cross-cultural communication, and social determinants of health.

Dr. Junkins has served on multiple professional boards, multi-disciplinary committees, task forces, building partnerships, and influenced policies promoting wellness. Following his Governor's appointment, he is presently the Joint Task Force's Vice-Chair on Universal Healthcare in Oregon. Dr. Junkins has been elected to both the Corvallis School Board and the Corvallis City Council and served on multiple foundations throughout the community. Dr. Junkins is a former Robert Wood Johnson Minority Medical Development Scholar. He received his fellowship training and Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Utah School of Medicine, his internship and residency training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Children's Center, and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Junkins lives with his wife, who is also a pediatrician, and their five boys in Corvallis, Oregon.
