Heather Schmidt, DO

Dr. Heather Schmidt is a practicing family medicine physician in Fond du Lac, WI. She trained at Midwestern University- Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at Exempla/St. Joseph’s Hospital in 2005.  She has been a leader in the well-being space since 2013 when she began her role with Agnesian HealthCare. She transitioned into a system leadership role with SSM Health in 2020. She has collaborated with a variety of organizational partners to infuse well-being into ongoing initiatives, including leadership development, continuous improvement, and employee safety. She has been instrumental in the design and implementation of the Care for Caregivers peer support system and system-wide Schwartz Rounds. She serves as the medical advisor for the Fond du Lac County Public Health department and recently completed her term on the Fond du Lac County Board of Health. She is a member of the Catholic Healthcare Association Well-being Committee and the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation Board of Trustees and participates in multiple professional societies, including the AAFP, ACLM, AAPL, and the Coalition for Physician Well-being. She has presented at multiple conferences nationwide, most recently at the American Conference on Physician Health, Epic UGM, and the American Association for Physician Leadership. She continues her medical practice with the Integrative Health department with a special interest in behavioral health and weight management.  Her hobbies include spending time with her husband Ryan and her two daughters (Solveig, 19, and Sadie, 16) mostly on the ski hill and boating the many lakes of Wisconsin.
