Teresa Hubka
Teresa A. Hubka, DO, MS, FACOOG (Dist), FACOG, CS
Dr. Hubka, a native of San Diego, California, began her career in healthcare, receiving her degree in Biochemistry and Nutrition Science from the University of California at Davis and her Master of Science in Biology and Clinical Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Dr. Hubka earned her osteopathic medical degree (DO) from Des Moines University - Osteopathic Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, and then completed an osteopathic Internship at Atlantic City Medical Center in New Jersey, followed by a Residency in obstetrics and gynecologic surgery at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois where she was the Administrative Chief Resident.
Dr Hubka is dual board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Osteopathic Association’s Board of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AOBOG) and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). She is a Distinguished Fellow of ACOOG and a Diplomat of ACOG.
Dr. Hubka is the Founder and Medical Director of Comprehensive Wellness Care, LLC, a practice of professionals in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Health, Behavioral Health, and Integrated Health and Fitness specialists, which provides complete health services to women of all ages. She has practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago, Illinois since 1994. Dr. Hubka is in private practice but is also affiliated with hospitals in Chicago including Ascension - Resurrection Medical Center, where she served as Program Director of the Ob/Gyn Residency program of Midwestern University/OPTI: Presence – Resurrection Healthcare Consortium from 2000 through 2015. She remains an active teaching faculty member and advisor to the residents and the program’s administrative team.
Dr. Hubkais also a Clinical Professor and Department Chair of Ob/Gyn at Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Costin Scholar in Medical Education, and certified in MWU-Master Faculty Series. She is also the core and elective Clerkship Director for 3rd and 4th-year osteopathic students and Advisor to the Student Osteopathic Ob/Gyne Association (SOOGA). She is an Advisory Faculty and Senior Instructor for the Basic and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (BLSO, ALSO) courses (which she has taught at local, national, and international conferences since 2013). She is an active member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG),
serving on the Congressional Leadership Council, the Women’s Preventive Services Initiative (WPSI) in conjunction with HRSA, the Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) and, the Council of Resident Educators on Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG).
Dr. Hubka is a Past Presidentof the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG) and served as Founder and Advisor to the Council of Postgraduates (COP). She received the ACOOG Distinguished Service Award 2013-2014 -the highest honor bestowed by the College- and recently received the ACOOG Mentor of the Year 2023.
She is also a Past President and the first female President of the American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF). Additionally, Dr. Hubka is a Past President of the Illinois Osteopathic Medical Society (named IOMS Physician of the Year in 2002); Past President of the Des Moines University Alumni Association (recognized as the Alumnus of the Year for DMU in 2014); and was named a “Top Doctor” in women’s healthcare in Chicago Magazine’s annual series multiple years from 2010 through 2024.
Nationally, Dr. Hubka is the President of the American Osteopathic Association and has been on the Board of Trustees since 2013. She has chaired the Department of Professional Affairs, Department of Education, Department of Research and Development, Department of Affiliate Relations, and Department of Government Affairs. She has chaired many Bureaus and workgroups, including Board Certification, Journal of Osteopathic Medicine, Bureau of International Osteopathic Medicine, and Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Hubka is an inductee into the American Osteopathic Association’s Mentor Hall of Fame and was honored as the 2023 AOA Mentor of the Year.Dr. Hubka brings excellence in knowledge and experience, incorporating osteopathic principles in healthcare and advocating for women's health. She lives her profession and is passionate about educating the public, patients, nurses, students, and physicians.
