Incidence of Hypertension Disorder of Pregnancy

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Describe the spectrum and diagnostic criteria of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, including gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, and chronic hypertension.
2. Identify demographic and language-related factors associated with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy among patients delivering within the MaineHealth system.
3. Interpret findings from a retrospective cohort study examining the incidence of pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) among patients who did and did not require interpreter services.
4. Discuss the potential implications of language barriers, insurance status, and immigration-related factors on maternal health outcomes in Northern New England.
5. Evaluate future research directions and quality improvement opportunities for addressing disparities in perinatal care for linguistically diverse and immigrant populations.
