Stephen Fletcher, DO, FACOS
Stephen Fletcher graduated from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1979. An Internship at Grandview Hospital in Dayton Ohio was followed by a neurosurgery residency at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa Oklahoma and at Hermann Hospital in Houston. After 10 years of practice a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery was done at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Fletcher has been on staff at Hermann Hospital since 1981 and is actively involved as a Professor of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the University of Texas medical School at Houston. He holds the Dr. Marnie Rose Professorship in Pediatric Neurosurgery. His research interests in the past comparing brain tumors in canines and humans has expanded into research involving in-utero surgery for open neural tube defects. A robotic treatment for in-utero surgery is one of his goals among many in trying to improve outcomes in children with neurological conditions.
