Description

This targeted webinar is designed for practicing physicians ad providers seeking up-to-date clinical guidance on Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The session will cover current evidence on HPV epidemiology, associated disease risks—including cancers—and best practices for prevention.

Objectives:

  • Explain the latest clinical evidence on HPV transmission, pathogenesis, and associated disease burden
  • Apply current CDC and ACIP guidelines for HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening. Effectively counsel patients and caregivers on HPV-related risks and the benefits of vaccination

The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of .75 AOA Category 1-A credit and will report CME and specialty credit commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Ashlesha Kaushik (MD, MS, FAAP) is Medical Director of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at UnityPoint Health, Sioux City, IA; and Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Kaushik is CDC 2019 childhood Immunization Champion Award recipient, CDC Project Firstline/American Academy of Pediatrics Infection Prevention and Control Ambassador for Iowa and Invited Visiting Faculty at Harvard; she is currently Iowa American Academy of Pediatrics Vice President and American Academy of Pediatrics National Spokesperson interviewed by several media outlets including CNN. She is Chair of Infectious Diseases Committee for Iowa AAP and Chair of IA Immunization coalition Scientific Advisory Committee, and serves on various national committees including American Academy of Pediatrics section on infectious diseases education committee and chapter Immunization representatives Steering committee. After her residency in Pediatrics from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research India and then New Jersey, Dr. Kaushik completed her Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship from University of Texas Southwestern, Dallas, TX and earned her Master of Science degree from Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. Dr. Kaushik has published extensively and has received numerous awards and recognitions including American Academy of Pediatrics Excellence in Education Award, National Immunization Emerging Leader Award by Immunization coalitions, American Academy of Pediatrics Special Achievement Award, and has been recognized as Advancing leader in clinical care, research and advocacy for Harvard Medical School Pediatrics Leadership Program, as global expert for Sabin Immunization Advocates and recently her QI research in antimicrobial stewardship has been named among best QI research projects at Harvard.
