Description

In this lecture, Dr. Kelm will discuss Catatonia, its presentation, etiologies and treatments. She will also discuss several cases of comorbid oncology.

Objectives:

  • Define and recognize the clinical features and diagnostic criteria of catatonia
  • Describe the epidemiology of catatonia and its prevalence in diverse patient populations
  • Identify and analyze the underlying etiologies of catatonia, with an emphasis on associations with cancer and related conditions
  • Discuss and evaluate evidence-based treatment approaches for catatonia, including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic strategies

The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credit and will report CME and specialty credit commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.
