Objectives:

  • The concept of population health and how it relates to improving the health of patients
  • The rationale of use of clinical measures of quality to assess provider performance
  • How the use of quality measures affects our work flow as clinicians
  • How to integrate the use of quality measures into the holistic view of patient care
  • How proper documentation of clinical quality measures affect reimbursement

The Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.

Dr. Kosters is a Board Certified Osteopathic Family Physician who graduated from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He completed his postgraduate training at Des Moines General Osteopathic Hospital. He is currently practicing at Avera Medical Group in Sibley, Iowa, where he is a staff physician, as well as vice-president of the medical staff and Director of Emergency Services at The Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.

In addition to providing family medicine and emergency services, Dr. Kosters serves as Osceola County Medical Examiner, Chair of the Osceola County Board of Health, Medical director of a local long term care facility, as well as Adjunct Faculty for the physician assistant program at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA. Dr. Kosters also serves as Regional Director for Medical Quality for Avera Medical Group clinics in Northwest Iowa and Southwest Minnesota.
