Emil P. Lesho, DO, FACP, FIDSA, FSHEA is an Infectious Diseases physician and the Healthcare Epidemiologist for Rochester Regional Health, Rochester, NY. Previously, Dr. Lesho served for 26 years on active duty in the U.S. Army. Following his deployment to Iraq, he was the Cofounder and Director of the Multidrug-resistant Organism Repository and Surveillance Network and the Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring and Research Program (MRSN-ARMoR) at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, which is the Department of Defense’s (DoD) flagship agency for conducting epidemiologic surveillance and applied research of multidrug-resistant organisms isolated from healthcare associated infections including war trauma.

Dr. Lesho graduated magna cum laude from DeSales University, Center Valley, PA with a degree in biology, and from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia PA with D.O. degree.  He trained in Internal Medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, WA and in Infectious Diseases at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC.  Dr. Lesho has co-authored 168 papers in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. He holds the position of Professor of Medicine (inactive) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD, and has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally on various internal medicine and infectious diseases topics, and most recently on the escalating crisis of antibiotic resistance.

Dr. Lisa Letourneau is an experienced physician leader and passionate advocate for health care system delivery change.  She currently serves as Senior Advisor to Maine DHHS Commissioner Lambrew, supporting a range of health care change efforts.  She currently helps to support several aspects of Maine’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including testing and vaccination efforts.  Additionally, she provides leadership for DHHS rural health transformation efforts, as well as clinical aspects of Maine’s opioid response and MaineCare Value-Based Payment efforts.  Prior to joining the DHHS team, she served as Executive Director for Maine Quality Counts and previously served as Senior Director of Clinical Integration for Maine Health.

Worked for St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston for 16 years as a Primary Care Provider. Founded St. Mary’s Weight Management Center in 2011 and has been working as an Obesity Medicine Specialist for the past 11 years. Joined Maine Medical Center in August of 2018 and is the Clinical Lead for Adult Obesity Program at MMC Weight and Wellness. Is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine  the Maine Osteopathic Association, and the Obesity Medicine Association. She has served a Board Member for the Auburn YMCA in the past and currently sits as a Board member for the Bath Brunswick YMCA. She has two sons in college and lives in Brunswick with her husband of 29 years.

Dr. Isaac Benowitz is the State Epidemiologist at the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, where he provides epidemiological expertise, guidance, and support on disease investigations, outbreak control, surveillance activities, and planned epidemiologic studies. He leads Maine CDC’s COVID-19 therapeutics program. Before joining Maine CDC in 2021, he worked for the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for seven years focusing on communicable disease outbreaks and healthcare-associated infections. He is a graduate of Columbia University and the Yale School of Medicine and completed pediatric residency training at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Courtney Pladsen DNP, FNP-C has worked in the health care safety net for over 15 years in Emergency Departments and FQHCs. She is a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner with a clinical focus on substance use treatment and harm reduction for people experiencing homelessness. She received her undergraduate degree from Boston College and her Masters and Doctoral degrees from Georgetown University where her research explored screening and addressing social determinants of health in primary care. From 2018-2022 she was a fellow with the RWJF Culture of Health Leaders program. Prior to starting as the Medical Director for MaineCare, Courtney was the Clinical Director at the National Health Care for the Homeless Council from 2020-2023. Courtney led the development of Maine’s first medical respite program, which opened in fall of 2022, in partnership with Maine Medical Center, Greater Portland Health, and Preble Street. While she continues to practice one day a week at Greater Portland Health’s Health Care for the Homeless Clinic, Courtney is passionate about improving health systems to provide equitable care for the most marginalized individuals in our community.

Matthew Gilbert, DO, MPH is a Professor of Medicine, Director of the Endocrine Fellowship Program in the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont and the University of Vermont Health Network Director of Diabetes. A graduate of The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Biddeford, Maine in 2003, Dr. Gilbert completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, New York. Dr. Gilbert received his Masters in Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health in 1999 and a Bachelor of Science degree from Susquehanna University in 1998.  His current research interests include the impact of diabetes treatments in older adults and quality improvement regarding the care of patients with diabetes in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Dr. Gilbert is a member of the Endocrine Society, The American Diabetes Association and The American Thyroid Association. He lives in Vermont with his wife and two children.

Tristan Reynolds, DO is a Mainer who earned an undergraduate degree in biology from Pennsylvania State University and attended medical school at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM). While a medical student, Tristan was awarded a one-year OMM/anatomy pre- doctoral teaching fellowship. Tristan subsequently completed a PGY1 year in OB/GYN and, realizing that it was not the right fit, left residency to pursue academia as an assistant clinical professor at UNE COM.
He taught first and second year medical students for 5 years and rose to co-course director of UNE COM’s Year 1 Osteopathic Clinical Skills, an integrated clinical skills/anatomy/OMM course. Tristan returned to residency training at Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency (MDFMR) where he was a co-chief resident. He stayed on as full time faculty at MDFMR where he does outpatient, inpatient, and obstetrics. Tristan has specific clinical interests in diagnostic reasoning, cardiology, and addiction medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, birding, home renovation, travel, and caring for his rambunctious children.

Douglas Comeau, DO's Profile

Dr. Douglas Comeau currently serves as the Director of University Health Services and primary Care Sports Medicine at Boston College. He attended medical school at UNECOM in Biddeford, ME. Dr. Comeau completed his family medicine residency at Tufts University, where he was administrative chief resident. He then went on to complete a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Wake Forest University. Dr.Comeau joined the Mass General Brigham-Newton-Wellesley Sports Medicine team in July 2020, seeing patients of all ages and athletic abilities. His clinical interests include osteopathic manipulation, concussion management, research, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

In addition to his clinical practice at Boston College and NWH sports medicine, Dr.Comeau serves as head medical team physician for the Boston Bruins, finish line medical tent physician at the Boston Marathon, and faculty for the Boston University sports medicine fellowship. He is a clinical associate professor in family medicine at Boston University School of Medicine.

Dr. Comeau also holds national positions for the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine (AMSSM), including serving as the Massachusetts state legislative contact for the Practice and Policy Committee and serving as co-chair of the case review sub-committee for the Education Committee.

Dr. Comeau has lectured regionally, nationally, and internationally on sports-related concussions, exercise prescription, and osteopathic manipulation. Dr. Comeau is board-certified in family medicine and has a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. He also holds the distinction of being named a fellow of both the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP) and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (FAMSSM).

Cathy Krouse, DO Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Catherine M. Krouse is a board certified family physician.  She was born and raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and then headed to Philadelphia for college and medical school.  At Temple University, she received her Bachelor's degree in World Religion.  She received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

At this point, she needed a break from city life and was drawn to Maine for family medicine residency, graduating in June 2014.  Her experience studying both the humanities as well as medical science helped to shape her perspective of medicine and her practice.  Every person is unique in their experience and thus requires a unique path to health and healing.  Dr. Krouse is committed to providing the tools and support that allow patients to heal on many levels.

In addition, yoga is an important part in Dr. Krouse's life and medical practice.  She has received her 200 hour yoga teacher certification through Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy.  Her classes are a mix of guided meditation, Hatha (holding postures), and Vinyasa (flowing through postures) with the intention to create space in order to listen to the wisdom all of our bodies possess.

Segal, D.O. is a native New Englander and an Associate Professor of Primary Care at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He is a board-certified internist and nephrologist with over three decades of clinical and academic experience.  A graduate with distinction from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences (DMU-COM), Dr. Segal completed his internal medicine at Sinai Hospital/Johns Hopkins, a fellowship in General Internal Medicine and Nephrology from Johns Hopkins, where he later served as academic curriculum development and innovation, interprofessional education and mentorship, and informatics design and leadership.  Currently, he serves as the 2nd year medical knowledge course director and UNECOM interprofessional education lead.

Dr. Michael Fine is an award-winning author, community organizer, family physician, and public health guy.  Dr. Fine is the President and Board Chair Member of Primary Care for All Americans and the chief health strategist for the city of Central Falls, RI.  He was Director of the Rhode Island Department of Health , 2011-2015.  He is currently the Board Vice Chair and Co-Founder of the Scituate Health Alliance and is on the Board of the Lown Institute.
