BIO: Cindy Brown is native of Jackson, MS. Cindy has worked in the Healthcare field for over 24 years and 20 of those years were associated with The MS Division of Medicaid. She has been the VP of Membership of Toastmasters “Guess Who’s Talking Now” Club Number 3284 for the past 2 years. She has served as the Financial Advisor for The Jackson Rattlers AAU Basketball Team. She is a Youth Leader, Sunday school teacher and a member of the Leadership Board at Grace Inspiration Church; as well as an original Mississippi Mass Choir Member. Cindy has been married for 23 years to Percy Brown III and they have two sons; Percy Brown IV (20) and Peyton Omar Brown (19). Cindy received an Associate’s Degree from Hinds Jr. College and her Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management from Jackson State University.

Dr. (Maj) Ryan Anderson, DO is an emergency medicine physician in Biloxi, MS. He is a Major in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base where he serves as flight commander and lead physician of the emergency department.  He also works part time at Singing River Gulfport and Highland Community Hospital to help serve the local community. He was recently named Director of Ultrasound at William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine and has developed a revolutionary ultrasound credentialing platform for all graduating medical students.  He is also Founder and CEO of Conquering The Boards which offers personalized study schedules for medical students to help them successfully navigate studying for their licensing exams while still balancing their core curriculum.  He is a local resident of Biloxi, MS, is happily married to his wife, Alli, who is an ER nurse, and has three children - Arya, Adam, and Ella.

BIO: Dr. Seger Morris earned his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine after a non-traditional path to becoming a physician. With a Bachelor of Science in Investment Finance, MBA in Strategic Management, and years of experience in business management, and leadership prior to entering medical school, the business and policy of healthcare was top of mind throughout his training. During residency training at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS, he served as Chief Resident, completed a Health Policy Fellowship sponsored by the American Osteopathic Association, and served on the board of directors for MOMA among many other hospital and medical society committees. Following residency, he served as the Executive Director of Magnolia Regional Community Care Clinic and as an Associate Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at MRHC in Corinth, MS.   Dr. Morris is now the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Health Systems in Oxford, MS.  He also serves as a Regional Assistant Dean and the Director of Health Policy Programs for the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Morris is the current MOMA President.

Dr. Hood is currently in a private practice, Elite Wellness for Women, an OB/GYN clinic in Jackson, Mississippi.  He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He then completed his internship and residency in OB/GYN at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Dr. Hood remains extremely involved in the osteopathic profession.  He is currently serving as a board member for the American Osteopathic Association. He also served as a student and resident member to the American Osteopathic Association’s Board of Trustees.  He has served on the AOA’s Bureau of Osteopathic Education, and the AOA Council of Osteopathic GME Development.  He has previously served on many AOA bureaus, councils, and committees. 

He is also serving as chair of the American College of Osteopathic OB/GYN Bylaws Committee and served three terms on the ACOOG Board of Trustees. 

He is a past president for the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association and has been very involved in the MOMA since he was a resident.  He continues to serve as the MOMA delegation chair to the AOA House of Delegates.

He has served on two committees of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. He is clinical preceptor for the William Carey University – College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, MS, where he teaches women’s health topics.  He was awarded the MOMA Preceptor of the Year in 2021-2022.

He also serves on many hospital committees at River Oaks Hospital in Jackson, MS, currently serving as Chief of Staff.

He enjoys life with his wife, Summer, and their 4 children.  He enjoys golf, and water skiing, and traveling with his family. 

Interesting fact:  Dr. Hood, or “Ashley”, was named after Gone with the Wind.  His mother was a big fan of the movie, and her best friend’s name?????   …… You guessed it, Scarlet.  There were actually 5 boys in his high school named Ashley (generational thing)!!

Dr. Pecunia received his Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., in 1981. He then returned to his native New Orleans to attend Louisiana State University School of Medicine and received his medical degree in 1986. Pecunia served a general surgery residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., He then completed a plastic surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss., in 1994. Calderone, DO, MPH performed his undergraduate studies at Southeastern Louisiana University.  He earned a Master of Biomedical Sciences degree from William Carey University, as well as a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.  He is a graduate of the inaugural class of William Carey University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was a National Health Service Corps Scholar.  Dr. Calderone completed his residency training in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at The University of Mississippi Medical Center and received additional certifications in Hypertension and HIV Medicine. Tiffany Worthington, DO received a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of Pikeville, Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (UP-KYCOM) in May 2006. She has a special interest in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) and participated in a one-year scholars program in the Osteopathic Principles and Practices department during her time at UP-KYCOM. She received her Internship/Residency training in Family Practice-OMT through Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, OH, in 2009.  She has always had a heart for rural primary care and was in private practice in Wiggins, MS, until December of 2017. BIO: Dr. Rebecca Rose is excited to be involved in teaching again and in guiding residents on their learning pathway. She came to Mississippi from North Carolina on a ballet scholarship and hasn’t left yet! She even did her active-duty US Air Force commitment at Keesler Air Force Base. Dr. Rose did her medical school and residency training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS, then proceeded to Keesler Air Force Base, where she served as medical director of the Family Medicine Clinic. She was also involved with supervising and teaching medical students, new nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Dr. Rose served as medical director of the Air Force PA training program at Keesler Air Force Base. She is married and has two boys, who are the light of her life. Her furry children are pretty awesome, too!

BIO: Jennifer Gholson, M.D. is a family physician who lives in Summit, MS. She grew up in the small town of Liberty, MS. She graduated from Millsaps College with a degree in Biology and Honors in Art History. She received her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine residency at East Tennessee State University and is currently board certified in Family Medicine. In addition to practicing Family Medicine for over 20 years she has served as a medical director and/or Chief Medical Officer for the Medicare QIO in Mississippi, Medicare and Medicaid managed care organizations, and private insurers. She currently serves as the Director for the Mississippi Center for Rural Health and will practice Family Medicine at a rural health clinic starting in June. She is active in the medical community having served as President of the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians, Delegate to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and a member of the AAFP’s Commission on Federal and State Policy. Believing that a hallmark of a Family Medicine physician is community involvement, she had served on the board of directors for the Southwest Mississippi Children’s Advocacy Center, St. Andrews Mission and as President of the local garden club. She is married to her husband, Carter Gholson, and is the proud mother of Alex and Claire. She is passionate about educating people on their health, helping physicians thrive, and moving the needle on health outcomes in her home state of Mississippi.

He is currently practicing as a Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician with the Hattiesburg Clinic, where he has special interest in point of care ultrasound, advanced bronchoscopy, and lung cancer care.

 

In addition to his medical practice, he is active in the Mississippi Chapter of the American College of Physicians where he has served for 5 years on their Regional Meeting Planning Committee and Governor’s Advisory Council.
