Dr. Neil Horning is a board-certified Pulmonary and Critical Care physician, originally from East Tennessee. He earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and completed his Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Barnes–Jewish Hospital/Washington University Medical Center. Since joining MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in 1998, Dr. Horning has played a leading role in advancing lung cancer care. In 2012, he spearheaded the development of the hospital’s Lung Cancer Screening Program, followed by the establishment of the Incidental Pulmonary Nodule Program, and the MercyOne Multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Clinic.
He currently serves as Co-Medical Director of these programs, guiding their clinical operations and ongoing growth.
