Physicians and medical professionals will review various etiologies of head and neck pain including primary headaches, headaches of musculoskeletal origin, and trauma. They will apply appropriate cranial and cervical osteopathic manipulation techniques (OMT) to patients when indicated and recognize situations when OMT is contraindicated. They will demonstrate safe and effective OMT to the head and neck using a variety of crania, direct, and indirect techniques. Rheumatology is a complicated field of medicine with over 100 disorders of the musculoskeletal system, many of which have an autoimmune, inflammatory, or systemic basis. It can be a daunting field for the non-Rheumatologist. This is due to our diseases involving nearly all fields of medicine, the limitations of imaging or laboratory studies alone in making definitive diagnoses, and the dynamic nature of newer therapeutics.
