Statement of Accreditation
The Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. TOMA designates is program for a maximum of 20.75 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Thomas E. Eidson, D.O. is a board certified physician holding a board certification in Family Medicine through the American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians and is certified as a Diplomate through the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine (Phlebologist). Dr. Eidson is a Vein Specialist (Phlebologist) and his entire practice, Atlas Vein Care, is solely focused on treating and healing all Venous and Lymphatic issues in the legs. Dr. Eidson completed his fellowship in the treatment of Vein Disease (Phlebology) in December of 2011.

Dr. Soliman is an pharmacist, researcher and educator, currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at Sam Houston State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine (SHSU-COM).
She obtained her doctorate degree in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics from the College of Pharmacy, University of Georgia. Her work focused on the neurovascular unit, with the goal of repurposing FDA- approved medications for stroke therapy. Her postdoctoral research at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut focused on studying the role of pericytes in intraventricular hemorrhage of prematurity.
Dr. Soliman is a passionate advocate for promoting safe medication practices in rural and underserved areas, which has driven her to investigate healthcare disparities related to drug abuse, misuse, and addiction. Her commitment to collaboration, innovation, and research excellence at SHSU-COM is reflected in her work with a team of experts from diverse fields, including public health, statistics, healthcare, and sociology. Together, they are serving the mission of SHSU-COM, dedicated to educating the next generation of primary care physicians to promote health in Texas and beyond.

Dr. Edwin Davila is a senior resident physician of Internal Medicine at the Texas Institute for Graduate Medical Education and Research. He obtained his medical degree from the University of the Incarnate Word School of Medicine in San Antonio, MS Exercise Physiology from Baylor University and BS Biology from Baylor University. He is a CISSN holder and currently holds positions as a TACSM Board of director and AMSSM board member. He is a prior US Naval Officer. His primary interest is in obesity medicine and developing methods of incorporating lifestyle medicine and exercise science as primary care modalities to his patients as a means of preventing the progression of debilitating and preventable disease.

Emily Simmons is an incoming second year D.O. student at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She currently works with Sahar Soliman, RPh, PhD? investigating the impacts of COVID-19 on the Opioid Epidemic. Emily graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas Woman’s University, and a Master of Science in Medical Science from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Emily’s interests include preventative medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, and pain management.
Rob Slater is a family and integrative medicine physician who earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin, his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and his Master’s in Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. Dr. Slater completed residency training in family medicine at Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Houston. Following this, he completed a fellowship in Integrative and Behavioral Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, then became an assistant professor at UTMB. In 2019, Dr. Slater joined the newly-founded medical school at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio to help develop their medical curriculum and currently serves as a director of the Developing Osteopathic Clinical Skills (DOCS) program. He has enthusiastically incorporated integrative health and medicine into the formal curriculum at UIW-SOM, which is now integrated into over 70 different large and small group sessions in the first two years of medical school! Dr. Slater is also the director of the Integrative Gastroenterology course of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM) Fellowship.

Dr. Martha Danhof is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice Palliative Care Medicine. Following graduation from SMU, she worked as the amino acid analyzer technician in the Department of Microbiology at UTSW and then transitioned to graduate work in the microbiology department working on viral molecular genetics. Her desire to pursue a medical career was finally realized after attending TCOM and graduating from UNTHSC-TCOM. She completed internship and residency at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, where she served as Chief resident in her final year of training. Dr. Danhof spent the first four-years post training as a Primary Care Physician in Allen, Texas. She then accepted a position at UNTHSC -TCOM, where she taught in the Internal Medicine department. Following, Dr. Danhof transitioned to hospital medicine, where she worked for the next 15 years. During her time as a hospitalist, she established the Palliative Care program at Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Danhof has had a passion for palliative care and hospice her entire career and feel there is great misunderstanding as to when and what palliative care can offer.

Dr. Hansen is a triple board-certified physician in family medicine, sports medicine, and Osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine. Currently, Dr. Hansen practices at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and has some teaching responsibilities with the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to medicine, Dr. Hansen spent almost 15 years training athletes of all ages, genders, and competitive levels. She has an enthusiastic curiosity both in and out of the clinic. In her free time, Dr. Hansen enjoys exploring this globe both locally and internationally.

James Aston, DO
Dr. Aston is board certified in Family Medicine and practices medicine with a distinctively osteopathic approach to patient care. His interest is in how a patient’s environment influences their health and wholeness. Because of his brief stint in the USAF, he has a special interest in veteran’s health, too. Following residency (in Searcy, Arkansas), Dr. Aston packed his wagon and brought his family west to Fort Worth, where he spent a year training in neuromusculoskeletal medicine. Serendipity then brought him into the world of Performing Arts Medicine, and under the tutelage of Drs. Sajid Surve, DO and Yein Lee, DO, he became the world’s first fellowship trained performing arts medicine physician. Dr. Aston trained in this subspecialty at UNTHSC and then accepted an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at UNTHSC.

Dr. Natalie Slater is a board-certified general pediatrician and Associate Professor of Pediatrics. She received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering with highest honors at the University of Texas at Austin and then earned her Doctor of Medicine degree with Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society recognition at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine. Dr. Slater completed her pediatric residency training through Baylor College of Medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas before joining the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics as faculty in Galveston, Texas. In 2019, she committed to teaching Pediatrics to medical students across the four-years of undergraduate medical training at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine in San Antonio, TX, where she serves as Pediatric Clerkship Director and Director of the OMS-III and IV curriculum.

Jessica M. Bradley is an Associate Professor of Physiology at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine’s (UIWSOM) in the Department of Applied Biomedical Sciences. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physiology in 2013 from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in New Orleans. She continued her training as post-doctoral fellow in the Cardiovascular Center of Excellence at LSUHSC. Her research includes the study of novel therapeutics in the setting of cardiovascular disease including myocardial infarction and heart failure. In 2016, she joined the faculty at the UIWSOM to help in the development and implementation of DO curriculum. She is actively involved in teaching physiology to the first- and second-year medical students and currently serves as the Director of the Phase I Curriculum.

Dr. Davis is a 1986 graduate of the Tx College of Out Med. and did his Internship at Rocky Mtn Hsp inDenver. His training in Ayurveda took place from 1988-2000 at Maharishi International Univ in Fairfield IA and the Maharishi College of Vedic Medicine in Albuquerque NM. He served as the Assoc Med Dir 1997-2000 at the Dallas Center for Chronic Disorders, an inpatient AV facility specializing in Chronic Disease. Dr. Davis has been in private practice in Austin since 2003, integrating Osteop Med and AV into his general practice. In 2013 he became the Med Dir of the Integrative Wellness Center at Maharishi International Univ where he is responsible for the clinic training portion of the Masters in Ayur Veda online program, one of the only Masters Degree programs in Ayurveda in the US.

Dr. Bob Kiser is a family physician, who joined the faculty of the University of the Incarnate Word following his career in Navy Medicine. He is an educator, an armchair philosopher, and a self-described simple country doctor. He is one of the founding fathers of the School of Osteopathic Medicine at UIW—having been intimately involved with its conception, its direction, and its focus on preparing students for service amongst the underserved. Dr Bob is one of the few allopathic members of TOMA, and is proud to be married to Jenny, a hospital chaplain and Pastor of a small progressive Baptist Church in San Antonio, where they raise children, goats, and chickens.

Dr. Kathleen Farrell specializes in chronic disease management, addiction medicine and opioid safety. She developed and implemented a National VA Stepped-Care (SCOUTT) program model to treat and address high risk patients on opioids at the Veteran’s Administration’s Tacoma/American Lakes Pain Clinic in Tacoma, Washington.
She is a 2002 graduate of Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and is credentialed in Family Practice by the American College of Osteopathic Medicine and in Addition Medicine by the American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Farrell sits on the Ethics and CME committees of ACOFP.

Muriel Lanford, a board-certified trauma nurse, holds both baccalaureate and master's degrees in nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and has practiced at multiple trauma centers across the country.
Ms. Lanford served 10 years as Trauma Program and Emergency Preparedness Director for a large healthcare system in Texas. After consulting for several private healthcare corporations, she subsequently worked as a professional speaker, educating healthcare staff around the country on all aspects of trauma care.
Ms. Lanford’s volunteer efforts focus on educating healthcare colleagues about human trafficking, and training various clinical and non-clinical groups on the effects of trauma on the brain. She currently works with Ransomed Life Texas, a San Antonio-based non-profit, anti-trafficking organization.

Stephen A. Fletcher, DO, specializes in brain tumors, fetal neurosurgery and vascular disorders in children.
He received his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his neurosurgery residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston/Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and Oklahoma State University/Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and Dallas Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Fletcher’s research interests include Chiari malformation, medical management of trauma-associated brain swelling, attempts at culturing brain tumor cell lines in collaboration with The University of Texas MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Center, and development of innovative surgical options for management of fetal spina bifida patients.
An associate professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at McGovern Medical School, he treats patients from fetus to young adulthood, as well as some adults. In practice since 1980, Dr. Fletcher formerly was the chief of surgery at Kingwood Medical Center, chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital (2003 to 2012) and director of pediatric neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School.

Dr. Deanah A. Jibril is an obstetrician-gynecologist in Frisco, Texas and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Baylor Scott and White Medical Center-Centennial and Medical City Plano. She received her medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Dr. Nathan S. Johnston is a private practice psychiatrist in the Northwest area of San Antonio. He completed his psychiatry residency training at the UT Health — San Antonio (UTH-SA) where he served as the chief resident. Dr. Johnston has been the recipient of multiple national and local awards, has published and presented multiple research projects of his own design, and remains an adjunct faculty member at the UTH-SA campus where he gives weekly lectures to the psychiatry residents and medical students.
Dr. Johnston founded Phoenix Mental Health to bring new, innovative, evidence-based treatments for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) to the people of San Antonio… and beyond. Phoenix Mental Health will be the first clinical site in San Antonio to offer Deep Brain Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), while also offering IV Ketamine and Intranasal Ketamine (Spravato) all for the treatment of MDD.
In addition to the above, Dr. Johnston can diagnose and treat a multitude of mental health issues including, but not limited to, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorders, thought disorders/psychosis, ADHD, and autism.

Scott Leggoe, DO attended medical school at Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blackburg, VA—graduating in 2009. He completed a residency in Family Medicine and OMT in the Philadelphia region and, following an additional training year, in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine in Orlando, FL.
Afterwards, Dr. Leggoe has been fairly mobile as his wife is an osteopathic physician in the USAF. He has been involved with medical schools, residency education, program directorship, family practice, OMM, urgent care medicine, and information technology, among other things.
His medical interests are musculoskeletal medicine and incorporation of OMT into everyday practice. He also enjoys culinary medicine.
His personal interests are family, cooking, traveling and teaching.
