- Measles remains a critical topic for physicians due to its resurgence in recent years, despite being a vaccine-preventable disease. With increasing vaccine hesitancy, global travel, and disruptions in routine immunizations—particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic—measles outbreaks have re-emerged in the United States and globally, threatening population immunity. These outbreaks underscore the urgent need for clinicians to be able to recognize early signs and symptoms, understand diagnostic strategies, and implement timely infection control measures.
