Description

Patent foramen ovale (PFO), the hole between the left and right atria of the heart is a common anatomical finding that can, in certain circumstances, be responsible for stroke and other clinical conditions. Physicians need to be aware of this when determining which patients would benefit from procedural management of PFO, due to its complexity.

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
-    Identify which patients should be considered for closure.
-    Discuss the benefits and pitfalls of diagnostic tests.
