Description

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:

  1. Summarize Current Adult Vaccination Recommendations and Schedules
    Learners will be able to describe updated immunization guidelines for adults, including routine schedules and special considerations for vaccines such as COVID-19, RSV, Hepatitis B, Pneumococcal, and MMR.
  2. Identify High-Risk Populations and Clinical Decision-Making Criteria for Adult Vaccines
    Learners will recognize populations at increased risk for vaccine-preventable diseases and apply shared clinical decision-making principles to determine appropriate vaccination strategies.
  3. Evaluate Vaccine Safety, Contraindications, and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Protocols
    Learners will assess safety profiles, contraindications, and precautions for adult vaccines, and understand protocols for post-exposure prophylaxis, particularly in outbreak scenarios such as measles.

ACCREDITATION

The Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association (POMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. POMA designates this activity for a maximum of 1 Category 1-A AOA CME credits and will report CME and specialty credits to the AOA commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Peter F. Bidey, DO, MSEd, FACOFP, “Immunizations A-Z,” is vice chair and assistant professor of family medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). Board certified in family medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine, he is a graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, the University of Pennsylvania, and a 2008 graduate of PCOM. He completed an internship and family medicine residency at Mercy Suburban Hospital in Norristown, Pennsylvania, and a training in policy studies fellowship at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury. A fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), Dr. Bidey is vice president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society, a member of the Board of Governors of the ACOFP, and a member of POMA, the American Osteopathic Association and the American Medical Association.
