Description

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:

  1. Recognize the Clinical Presentation and Risk Factors of Celiac Disease
    Learners will be able to identify common symptoms, associated conditions, and high-risk populations for celiac disease, including atypical manifestations such as neurological and dermatological symptoms.
  2. Interpret Diagnostic Tests and Develop a Diagnostic Strategy for Celiac Disease
    Learners will understand the appropriate use of serologic testing, genetic markers, and endoscopic evaluation in diagnosing celiac disease, including considerations for patients already on a gluten-free diet.
  3. Formulate a Comprehensive Management Plan for Patients with Celiac Disease
    Learners will be able to outline treatment strategies including dietary modifications, follow-up testing, nutritional supplementation, and referral criteria for gastroenterology, especially in cases of non-response or diagnostic uncertainty.

 

ACCREDITATION

The Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association (POMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. POMA designates this activity for a maximum of 1 Category 1-A AOA CME credits and will report CME and specialty credits to the AOA commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Justin L. DeRosa, DO, “Celiac Disease,” and “Irritable Bowel Syndrome,” is a gastroenterologist with Stoll Medical Group in Philadelphia, PA. Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. DeRosa is a graduate of Arcadia University in Glenside, PA and a 2016 graduate of PCOM. He completed an internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine, Jefferson Health System. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
