Description

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:

  1. Explain Current Pediatric Vaccine Recommendations and Schedules
    Learners will be able to describe updated immunization guidelines for children, including schedules for pneumococcal, COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and MMR vaccines, and understand age-specific dosing and timing.
  2. Identify Risk Factors and Special Considerations in Pediatric Vaccination
    Learners will recognize clinical scenarios requiring modified vaccine strategies, such as immunocompromised children, infants born during RSV season, and children with mild illness at the time of vaccination.
  3. Evaluate Public Health Trends and Responses to Pediatric Vaccine-Preventable Diseases
    Learners will analyze recent epidemiological data on diseases like measles and RSV, and apply evidence-based strategies to improve vaccination rates and manage outbreaks in pediatric populations.

ACCREDITATION

The Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association (POMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. POMA designates this activity for a maximum of 1 Category 1-A AOA CME credits and will report CME and specialty credits to the AOA commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

GRIEVANCE POLICY STATEMENT

Angela D. Zawisza, DO, FAAP, “Pediatric Vaccination,” and “Sleep Hygiene,” is chair of the pediatric department at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Board certified in pediatrics, she is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, and a 2007 graduate of Des Moines (Iowa) University - Osteopathic Medical Center College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. She completed an internship and pediatric residency at Geisinger Medical Center's Janet Weis Children's Hospital in Danville, Pennsylvania. A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, she is a delegate to the POMA and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Zawisza is a member of POMA, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Osteopathic Association.
